Blepharoplasty

With age progression, structural changes that increase with age occur in the skin and causes such as hereditary, personal characteristics and environmental factors accelerate this change. Dynamic lines begin to appear with the contraction effect of the muscle that closes the eyelids, called laughter line or crow's feet, in the 20s. Gravity lines begin at the age of 40, and sagging occurs with the effect of gravity on the skin, which loses its elasticity.

Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery applied to the eyelid. In this attempt, excess fat tissue is removed from the lower and upper eyelids along with the skin and muscle. However, the amount of tissue removed must be planned very well.

I. Surgical Preparation

It is important to plan the surgery before surgery. For this reason, your doctor should tell you the technique of surgery and give you the information you should and should not do for the surgery. After a routine and complete eye examination, the eyelids eyebrow height of the patient is determined by excess skin amount. Expectations of the patient and what to do during the operation are explained to the patient afterwards.

II. Operation

Surgical applications are usually performed under local anesthesia. It can also be performed with general anesthesia and sedation (half sleep) depending on the condition of the patient. The probability of developing a significant complication during surgery is very low.

III. Postoperative

Since the stitch is placed in the area that fits the fold of the valve after surgery, there is usually no scar. It is taken in a simple procedure. Postoperative swelling and bruising may vary from patient to patient, but may be mild and moderate, but decrease within 1-2 weeks. After the treatment, ice compresses, antibiotic drops and pomade are used. Pain relievers and anti-swelling drugs are given by mouth. The patient is asked not to wash the wound area within the first 5 days. The patient is asked to protect the wound area from the sun for the first few months.
